Philippine Airlines has committed to acquiring up to 34 widebody aircraft from Boeing and Airbus in a transaction valued at over $12 billion. The agreement covers 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and 14 Airbus A350-1000 jets, with scheduled deliveries beginning in 2031. PAL Holdings President Lucio Tan III attributes the massive capital expenditure to strengthening passenger demand and long-term confidence in the carrier's network.

The aircraft order caps off a rapid financial recovery for the 85-year-old carrier, which exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States four years ago. Philippine Airlines also secured $300 million through a five-year bond issuance to fund ongoing fleet upgrades. The airline reported a 37 percent jump in net profit to 9.6 billion pesos, roughly $160 million, alongside a 3.2 percent revenue increase to 184 billion pesos.
