Philippine Airlines has officially broadened its FurPAL program to permit small cats and dogs inside the passenger cabin on domestic journeys throughout the Philippines. Travelers paying the P2,500 one-way fee can transport one eligible animal per passenger, provided the aircraft accommodates the animal and strict capacity caps are respected.

This update transforms domestic transit options for animal owners navigating inter-island routes within the archipelago. Previously restricted to cargo holds, eligible pets can now travel right beneath the passenger seat, though strict compliance with carrier dimensions and documentation remains mandatory.

Americans traveling to Philippine Airlines for island-hopping itineraries face strict logistical hurdles when bringing a pet. Animals must be at least 12 weeks old, and the combined weight of the pet and its soft-sided carrier cannot surpass 10 kilograms. Carrier dimensions are capped at 45 by 25 by 28 centimeters to guarantee placement beneath the seat in front. Owners must present a veterinary health certificate issued within five days of departure, a valid anti-rabies certificate, a signed waiver, and a Bureau of Animal Industry local shipping permit at check-in. Canines require diapers, while felines need absorbent pads inside the enclosure, and neither animal receives airline meals or permission to exit the carrier during the flight.
